To assist with this essential mission, we are currently searching for candidates in the commercial real estate field to serve as our Facilities Real Estate Specialist.

The Facilities Real Estate Specialist will plan and coordinate activities related to property management for a portfolio of 45+ offices (GDOL Career Centers) across the state. The selected candidate must be proficient with project management, maintenance software and MS Office. This position reports to the department’s Real Estate Manager and is located at our Central Office in downtown Atlanta.


Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to and assists Real Estate Manager with annual reports, renewals and renegotiations for all leased offices (30+).
  • Assists RE Manager with subleases to other state agencies at all offices across the state (45+).
  • Assists local Career Center Managers with communication and coordination with landlords on maintenance and facility issues.
  • Oversees interior design and construction projects for the department's offices, located throughout the State of Georgia
  • Coordinates with vendors, senior staff, other state agencies and officials when relocating or modifying offices.
  • Reads drawings, coordinates the installation of furniture, and allocates office space
  • Defines and communicates project objectives
  • Manages project cost, time, scope and quality, while setting realistic goals
  • Conducts project status update meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Develops forms and records to document project and real estate activities
  • Monitors the progress of the project and adjusts, as necessary
  • Monitors and approves budgeted project expenditures to avoid and/or minimize change orders and budget overruns.
  • Insures that State space planning standards are followed

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Interior Design, Architecture, Real Estate or Construction Management, or related field

  • One year of experience in construction project management

  • One year experience in facilities management and/or real estate management for a portfolio of 10 or more properties.

  • One year experience with maintenance software (such as Maximo) is a plus.

  • Georgia Real Estate License with some commercial real estate experience.

  • Proficiency with reviewing site plans and allocating space.
